Vote Nevada Supporters,
Now that American Rescue Plan funding is arriving in Nevada, it is very important to participate in community feedback sessions. The Department of the Treasury requires the state, counties, municipalities, and other governing agencies receiving funding to engage with the community on inclusive funding priorities.
You can view the resources we discussed last Friday and Saturday about Rescue Plan funding and accountability here: https://vote-nevada-blog.org/federal-pandemic-relief-funding-disbursement-accountability/
I will update this page as more information about Rescue Plan funds becomes available.
If you are interested in the social media workshops I am offering through the Carson City Democratic Club, you can access the session recordings and resources here: https://vote-nevada-blog.org/social-media-training-sessions/

During this legislative session, bills passed to invigorate our ability to apply for grants and to create a program in the Lt. Governor’s office to assist Nevadans who would like to start a business or nonprofit. We will review these new programs on Saturday, 7/17/2021, 9-10:30 am, via Zoom.

This week we also have three very important governance and elections presentations:
7/15/2021 Alternative Governance workshop with Ben Pennington, via Zoom, 6-7:30 pm. Have you ever wondered if there is a better way to manage our legislative sessions beyond annual sessions? Ben has researched how other states manage their legislatures and will be sharing that information in his presentation.

7/16/2021 Open Primaries: The Alaska Model with Doug Goodman, via Zoom, 6-7:30 pm. Alaska just approved a ballot initiative to adopt a new primary election process with all candidates on one ballot, with the top four candidates advancing, and then ranked choice voting in the general election. Doug will review how this process works and what it could mean for Nevada.

7/17/2021 Methods of Score Voting with Ted Getschman, via Zoom, 6-7:30 pm. In addition to ranked-choice voting, other states and municipalities have adopted various versions of score voting to provide more equity in election processes. Ted will introduce and review these other voting processes.
