Vote Nevada Update 6/27/2021

Vote Nevada Supporters,

The National Constitution Center is hosting a Laboratories of Democracy: The Importance of State Constitutions webinar tomorrow, 6/28.  You can register here:

Please see this flyer for an important Historic West Las Vegas Community Meeting.  Fulfilling the Promise: A Community Conversation about Education Justice in West Las Vegas.  The date is 6/30, in-person, 6-8:00 pm, 690 West Lake Mead, 89030.

Yesterday’s Community Spotlight event with the leadership team of the Las Vegas Alliance of Black School Educators was an engaging opportunity to learn about LVABSE’s history and to discuss the breadth of community activism in Historic West Las Vegas.   We heard from community leaders and discussed how to document the story of education reform in Nevada.

The consensus decision was to inclusively interview as many community members as possible who would like to share their experiences and perspectives about education reform and Historic West Las Vegas.  These will not be full oral histories, but instead interviews to document who has been involved in education reform efforts, which could lead to full oral histories. We will also begin gathering documentary evidence related to education reform and the Historic West Las Vegas.

Current education advocates can then use this historical record to determine if past and current efforts to define and address issues of education equity are in sync.

You can view yesterday’s meeting recording and chat file here:

If you would like to participate by being interviewed, by helping with the interview process, and/or by contributing documents, please fill out this short form:

Reminder: The justice elections working group is meeting tonight at 6 pm to start working on a permanent Justice Offices Voter Guide. If you are interested in joining us, please RSVP here:
