Vote Nevada Supporters,
Please remember to join us this Saturday, April 9th, 9-10:30 am, via Zoom, for a review of the election laws passed in 2021 that will change how we manage our upcoming primary election. We will also go over updates on the Unity Coalition’s priorities, which are summarized below. You can RSVP for Saturday here: https://vote-nevada.news/Primary-Election-Update
Today the Interim Finance Committee approved disbursements of the American Rescue Plan federal funds. Many of our top priorities through our Unity Coalition received quite a bit of funding, so I wanted to share some high-level details and then we will discuss some paths for moving forward on these efforts on Saturday.
Funds from the Infrastructure bill also include funding for internet expansion, so there will be more funds for that priority coming to Nevada.
You can watch the Finance Committee meeting recording (click on the small camera image above the agenda): https://www.leg.state.nv.us/App/InterimCommittee/REL/Interim2021/Meeting/24196
(Pro tip: When you open the recording, if you click on Agenda in the grey box next to the video viewing box, you can advance the recorded video to the exact spot for the discussion of each Agenda item.)
As a reminder, here are the three Unity Coalition working group priorities:
- Denial of Services: Create an ombudsmen position at the Nevada Department of Education to field and resolve complaints about students not receiving legally required services.
- Ensure the federal funds allocated to Nevada for the expansion of broadband internet service are spent as quickly and efficiently as possible.
- Expedite workforce development for behavioral and mental health professions.
I have pulled these items which were approved today from these two lists:

Thank you for being Nevadans with me,
Sondra
